Web Design II, III & Advanced

Course Description:

This course is a continuation of Web Design and Development I. This course is designed for intermediate students to create websites for a variety of purposes. Students will develop their knowledge of content, placement, use of color and graphics, typography, and message. Students will use various web design languages, design concepts, and layout theories to create their websites. Students will examine the role of marketing, market research, ethics, and legal issues as it relates to websites. Project-based learning, collaboration, and portfolio development are essential elements of this class. The appropriate use of technology and industry standard equipment is an integral part of this course. Prerequisite: Web Design & Development I.

  • This course will fulfill the Art/Humanities/Career and Technical Education graduation requirement.
  • Length of Course: 2 semesters and
  • This course is based on or meets the Nevada State Web Design and Development Skills Standards.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

  • Build web pages using HTML5 code and explain the major benefits of HTML5.
  • Incorporate HTML5's new elements and attributes into websites.
  • Utilize HTML5 to incorporate semantic elements.
  • Develop web pages using HTML5's new, audio, video elements.
  • Analyze and implement code to create Web Storage for offline applications.
  • Use new HTML5 form elements.

Class Content

End of Course Exam:

The Nevada Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education have developed state Web Design and Development Standards. In the Spring, your student will be taking the Program Technical Assessment for Web Design and the State Employability Skills for Career Readiness Assessment exam.
