Program Description:
The Web Design and Development program provides students with concepts to develop and maintain websites. Areas of study include content development, backend programming, design and layout theories, and user interface.
Program Goals:
- Students will gain the skills and project-based experience needed for entry into web design and development careers.
- Students will be able to use a variety of strategies and tools to create websites.
- Students will develop awareness and appreciation of the many ways that people access the web, and will be able to create standards-based websites that can be accessed by the full spectrum of web access technologies
Classroom software and technology:
Technology used in class will be (but not limited to) Google Classroom, and Google Workplace (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms, and Sites). Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Screencastify, Text Editor (NotePad ++, Visual Studio Code [both programs are free]), Zoom, Infinite Campus. Parent Square (Students will need a StudentSquare account and parents will need a ParentSquare account.), EdPuzzle, thumbdrive & 3 ring binder (both supplied by class lab fee)
Methods of Instruction/Strategies:
Students working in the classroom. This course is primarily designed as a hands-on computer applications course. Instruction is presented by teacher lectures and hands-on demonstration, teacher-produced handouts and review worksheets. Teacher demonstration is done via the Samsung Digital Signage. Students will use the skills learned to complete Web Design projects throughout the year.
